Live streaming of Launching programme of PM-DDKY and National Mission on Pulses

The programme on Live streaming of Launching of Prime Minister Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) and National Mission on Pulses was organized by ICAR-KVK Dimapur in collaboration with ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre on 11th October, 2025 at KVK Dimapur Conference Hall. The programme was chaired by Dr. Bendangla Imsong, SMS/CTO Plant Breeding, KVK Dimapur, who welcomed and addressed the gathering. She also explained the purpose of the programme. Ms Shriyanshee Jain, IAS, SDO (C), Chumukedima district was the Chief Guest of the programme. In her speech, she highlighted and encouraged the farmers to utilize the schemes related to agriculture and allied sectors and also stated that Nagaland is rich in biodiversity and so urged the farmers to utilize them for the development of the state. She also emphasized on the collaboration with administration department to help the farmers. Further, she mentioned about the roles of KVKs in reaching the farmers to increase the income and dissemination of scientific knowledge on cultivation of crops. Dr. Aabon Yanthan, Scientist, ICAR, Nagaland Centre also addressed the farmers. In his speech he motivated the farmers for maximum utilization of schemes related to agriculture and different allied sectors. As the farmers in the state are also getting benefit from PM KISAN Scheme, he further highlighted to use the benefits of the schemes released today. He prompted the farmers to avoid monocropping and instead to practice with crop diversification so that it will increase the farmers’ income as well as prevent from the losses incurred from failure of monocropping. In addition to this, he suggested to have the good post-harvest practices to curb the losses involved after harvesting by utilising solar powered cold storage. Mr. Martin Joror, HEA, DHO, Dimapur also mentioned about the schemes the department of Horticulture is implementing in the state. The programme was further continued with the talked from Dr. Harendra Verma, Scientist, ICAR, Nagaland Centre on the Rabi agro advisories of major crops in the state. In his talk, he had an interaction with the farmers regarding the cultivation of mustard and linseeds in the rice fallow. He had explained the scientific method of cultivation of mustard and linseeds, winter maize, and the potato varieties which is suitable to the state. It was followed by live viewing of Launching of PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and National Mission on Pulses. After the lunch, the programme was continued with talks on principles and practices of natural farming by Dr. Bendangla Imsong, SMS/CTO, and Plant Breeding. As the state is also gearing up with the natural farming, she highlighted the farmers to take the opportunities and learned the skills related to natural farming. In another series of lecture, a discussion on awareness on National Pest Surveillance System (NPSS), farmer’s grievances redressal portal, GST reduction benefits, flagship schemes of GOI was taken up by Dr. Moanaro, Technical Officer, ICAR-KVK Dimapur. The programme ended with visit to the research farm of KVK by the farmers. Altogether 81 participants partook in the programme.
